Object relations remains the best and most helpful theory for understanding personality disorder. Yet, object relations models don’t adequately explain the highly dynamic reality of these conditions, leaving therapists with a limited understanding of how to provide effective treatment. UNTIL NOW!! After 20 years of research, study, and practice, Nysa Therapy has made a major breakthrough in understanding and treating personality disorders. We’ve developed a unique and dynamic model of object relations that:

  • Precisely identifies each of the components of the object relations structure present in attachment-based personality disorders including borderline, avoidant, schizoid, and masochist
  • Explains how each of these components functions and interacts to create each specific presentation
  • Reveals that the real self is always present
  • Guides therapists in:
    • Locating and accessing the real self
    • Tracking the movements of the real self and other components within the structure
    • Formulating therapeutic interventions designed to facilitate healing and activation

This training includes lecture, demonstration, hands-on practice, and application of the concepts covered to clinical scenarios.

Learning Objectives

After completing this training, attendees will be able to:

  • Describe the dynamic object relations structure of borderline, avoidant, schizoid, and masochistic personality disorders
  • Locate the real self within each of the structures
  • Anticipate and track the movements of the real self and other components
  • Understand how to intervene directly and uniquely with both the real self and the traumatized self
